The perfect breakfast bagel to start your morning!
- 1 cup Parks Blueberries
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Gently knead in the blueberries until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and then poke a hole in the center with your finger to form a bagel shape.
Once the water is boiling, carefully drop the bagels, one or two at a time, into the boiling water. Boil for about 1-2 minutes per side.
Remove the bagels from the water and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bagels are golden brown.
